Technology provides fresh wind
Nacelle section of a REpower MM92
The wind turbines planned by NATENCO produced a total of over 1.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity between 2000 and the end of 2007. This means that NATENCO supplies 400,000 four-person households with electricity for one year. In other words, we supply 1,600,000 people with a year’s worth of clean electricity.
The German technology we use is amongst the best in the world, and stands out thanks to its ingenious concepts:
- variable RPM generators that maximise the yield from different wind speeds
- state-of-the-art composite fibre materials that allow optimal aerodynamics with low weight
- carefully defined control parameters for a stable grid connection
- optimised gear oil filtering for a long service life
When implementing new sites, we offer our own NATENCO equipment package, developed in partnership with leading specialists. This sets new standards for economic efficiency and reliability: increased energy yields, the best rotor aerodynamics, optimal turbine efficiency and a structural design sturdy enough to withstand more than 20 years under full load.
Every NATENCO wind turbine is a power plant built by major manufacturers that combines systematic engineering and high-tech, high-quality components in an efficient design.
This has resulted in the third generation of megawatt turbines, which will set new standards for efficiency:
Features
- Guaranteed long service life
Structurally designed for a lifespan of more than 20 years under full load and capacity utilisation of 100%. Shutdown risk is largely eliminated via redundancy of all vital components.
- Wind sensor perfection (WSP)
Ensures availability using two winterproof wind sensors (one conventional, one ultrasonic 2D anemometer). The wind direction is detected separately by two vanes.
- High-end weather and performance analysis package
Rain, humidity, air pressure and temperature have a direct influence on the rotor efficiency. By analysing this data the turbine’s output can be optimised even after it has been commissioned.
- Gearbox optimisation with gearbox life cultivation (GLC)
High-performance lubrication (pressurised oil) and micro-particle filtering (main and secondary flow filter and magnetic filter). Online monitoring of all gearbox parameters.
- Rotor blades
Aerodynamic optimisation and tougher quality assurance (balance, weighting, profile accuracy to aerospace standards).
- Exclusive convenience and safety equipment
Remote data transmission over ISDN/ADSL, online monitoring, 2-person cable elevator for tower heights of 85 m and higher, additional workspace at the base of the tower, spare parts store, top-of-the-range safety equipment (especially for inspecting the nacelle).
- Additional technical equipment
Power rails instead of cables in the tower, higher transformer efficiency due to deliberate overdimensioning, fibre-optic control lines, increased safety requirements for lightning protection approval.
